Looking for a weekend getaway for the entire family? ?Just 3 and half hours away from Miami, there is fun and adventure awaiting! ?Miami locals and tourist alike will enjoy an eight mile trek down the Peace River, from Arcadia in Central Florida. ?This is the real lazy river, but watch out! ?You will see the natives: ?turtles, alligators, fish and more! ?Two canoe rental companies are Canoe Safari and Canoe Outpost. ?For the less adventurous or time-contrained, there are canoeing opportunities closer to Miami in Oleta State Park.

And for homeschooling-minded people: check out the Ice Age fossil adventures organized by the Creation Science Institute. ?Arcadia, Florida, is also known as Bone Valley, for its rich deposits of fossil bones — including those of the Sabor Tooth Cat, Columbian Mammoth, Giant Sloth, and Megalodon Shark. ?For more information, call 800-882-0278 or visit www.creationstudies.org.
